Redesigned for 2020, the Acadia is GMC’s midsize offering. Still offering a 3rd row despite having moved to a smaller platform shared with its Equinox cousin, its the only way to seat 7 in GMC’s lineup other than the Yukon. The big news for the Acadia is the new offroad AT4 trim.
The Acadia’s
pricing is spread across 5 trim levels, front or all wheel drive and 3 engine choices.
The base trim of the Acadia is SL and starts at the aforementioned $30,995. FWD is the only option at this trim. It gets powered by a 2.5 I4 with 193 horses. This engine is only offered on the SL and no other trim. That power is routed though a 9 speed auto. Other standard features are :
LED headlamps and tail lamps with signature C-shape design
Cloth seating
Smart Slide second-row seats
Next Generation 8" diagonal GMC Infotainment System
Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert
Rear Cross Traffic Alert
Rear Park Assist
17" aluminum wheels
Unlike competitors, the Acadia’s 3rd row comes standard. So 7 passenger seating is standard on all trims.
In typical GM fashion, base models come with a spartan amount of exterior color choices. On the base SL there are only 2: Summit White and Quicksilver Metallic, which is $495. The only interior color choice is Black. Its almost like they force you into the higher trims. I stuck with the standard white. There aren’t any other exterior option packages of course. The standard wheel is a 17” aluminum wheel. The only exterior options are a $100 engine block heater and a $40 front license plate bracket. Other than the 55 different stand alone accessories, a ‘20 Acadia will set you back $30,995. The price didn’t move unless you choose the $495 Quicksilver Metallic paint. Pretty cheap.
The next trim up is the SLE which is one of the volume trims. It starts at $34,995. This trim sees the availability of AWD as an option as well as the 3.6 V6. That engine is 310 horses and gets the same 9 speed auto.Equipping the SLE trim with the V6 and FWD pushes the price to $36,995; AWD SLE base prices are jump to $37,395 for the I4 and $37,890 for the V6.
Exterior color choices are more plentiful on this trim of course. There are 9 exterior color choices. The standard color is Summit White. All the other 8 are all $495 options. I choose Black. Interior colors on this trim add one more on to the standard Black cloth, a light grey seat color.
The SLE trim has 9 option packages, a few of which are offered on other GM models:
Driver Confidence Package $1,750
Remote Start
Driver and front passenger heated seats
Driver 8-way power seat
Driver power lumbar control
Hands-Free power programmable liftgate
120-volt power outlet
Brushed aluminum roof-mounted side rails on SLE and SLT
Gloss Black roof-mounted side rails on AT4
Bright roof-mounted side rails on Denali
Hit the Road Package $865:
Roof-rack cross rails
Molded assist steps
May require additional optional equipment (whatever that means)
Adventure Package $625
First and second row all-weather floor liners
Roof-rack cross rails
SLE, SLT and Denali also include third row all-weather floor liner and integrated cargo liner
AT4 also includes third row all-weather floor liner and integrated cargo liner with the available 6-passenger and 7-passenger seating
AT4 also includes cargo stabilizer with the standard 5-passenger seating
Bright Accent Package $525:
Chrome mirror caps
Sport pedal covers
Chrome bodyside moldings
Those are the main ones. The last 5 packages are cargo, interior protection and a roadside safety package. The package to get however is the Driver Confidence package. All the other ones seem kind of pointless to me or shouldn’t be in packages at all. So I added the Driver package increasing the price by $1750.
The main exterior option, aside from the plethora of things like wheel locks, tralierling options etc, is the dual SkyScape dual panel sunroof. A $1400 option I added this as well. It should be noted that the dual panel sunroof can only be had with the V6 engine as well.
Another thing about the Acadia is that you can choose between 6 or 7 passenger seating as for no cost as well. But you can only do so on the SLE model and up. Aside from things like floor mats and cargo shades and liners, the main standout interior options are a wireless charging pad which is weirdly left up to the dealer to make pricing for and 2 rear seat entertainment systems. One is $1750 without a DVD player and the other is $1995 with the DVD player. I didn’t add either of these or any of the accessories. All in, you’re looking at a $40 thousand dollar first rung from the bottom trim level any way you option it. The SLE with the options I ticked rang in at $37,240 with the 2.5 and FWD; $39.735 with the V6 and FWD; $39,640 with the I4 and AWD; and $41,535 with the V6 and AWD. Pricey.
The next trim is the SLT. Starting at $39,995 for the I4, $40,490 for the V6; $41,995 for I4 AWD and $42.490 for V6 AWD. The main differences on the SLT are its more luxury orientated options. For one seating options change from cloth to leather, but in the same 2 colors as the previous trims. Exterior color choices are the same. The SLT also gets 3 different option packages from the SL: a $1,250 Premium Package that includes:
HD Surround Vision
Luxury Package content:
Memory Package for power driver seat and outside mirrors
8-way power driver seat
Power passenger lumbar control
Heated and ventilated driver and front passenger seats
Heated rear outboard seats
Power tilt and telescopic steering column
Outside heated power-adjustable, power-folding and driver-side auto-dimming mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators
A Driver Alert Package II for $695:
Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
Automatic Emergency Braking
Front Pedestrian Braking
Forward Collision Alert
Following Distance Indicator
Front and Rear Park Assist
Safety Alert Seat
IntelliBeam® headlamps
Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert (Denali only)
Rear Cross Traffic Alert (Denali only)
And a $995 Infotainment Package:
8" diagonal GMC Infotainment System with navigation, multi-touch display and AM/FM/SiriusXM2 stereo
Bose® premium 8-speaker audio system
HD Radio
This package automatically gets selected when you choose the Premium Package. I selected all of these.
SLT gets 5 wheel options. The standard wheel is a 18” machined aluminum wheel. The other 4 wheel options are all 20” designs. One is $900 and the other 3 are all $2,295 each. I choose a 20” wheel with Satin Graphite spokes. These come with all season tires.
All in, equipped like the other trims, an Acadia SLT 2.0 FWD is $47,125; $47,620 with V6 and FWD (surprisingly not much of a price difference between the 4 and 6); $49,125 with 2.0 and AWD and $49,620 with V6 and AWD.
The next trim is the new off road inspired AT4 trim. Starting at $42,495, its only available with the V6 and AWD. Standard features include:
3.6L V6 engine with 9-speed automatic transmission
Cloth seating (Leather-appointed seating available)
5-passenger seating (6- or 7-passenger seating available)
Advanced twin-clutch AWD system
Exclusive 17" gloss-black wheels with all-terrain tires
Premium durable floor mats
Cargo Management System (Not available with 6- or 7-passenger seating)
Traction Select System with Off-Road mode
Exterior colors are all the same on the AT4. It does get more seat options though. The seat covering on the AT4 is a black cloth. The other 2 options are both $1,000 leathers. One is a handsome black/peanut butter leather seat in a color they call Kalahari, and the other is full black leather with Kalahari stitching. I choose the 2 tone seats.
Option packages are the same, execpt with its off road pretensions, there is no Premium Package on the AT4. Wheel options are scaled down as well. Other than the standard 17” wheel, there is a $900 20” wheel that I selected.
Interior wise, the AT4 gets the option of being able to be had with 5,6 or 7 passenger seating, depending on your need. All are no charge. 5 passenger seating is standard. Selecting 6 or 7 passenger seating automatically equips the rear with climate controls. All in, an Acadia AT4 is $47,980.
Lastly, the top of all GMC trims is the Denali. The Acadia Denali starts at $47,495 and can be had with front or all wheel drive. The 3.6 is also the only option. Packages are different on the Denali. There is no premium or Driver Confidence package. There is a $1,795 Technology package that includes:
Adaptive Cruise Control - Advanced
HD Surround Vision
Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking
Rear Camera Mirror
Rear Camera Mirror Washer
Wheels are different as well. The Denali comes standard with a 20” aluminum wheel. There are 3 other 20” wheel options. All are $1,795. I choose one of these, a dark graphite option. You would think that the dual pane sunroof would be standard on this trim considering its luxury, but nope, so I added it. Adding AWD sees the availability of an adaptive suspension for $1,200. With the same options ticked as the other trims (excluding the AT4) an Acadia Denali is $52,980; and an eye watering $56,180 with AWD.
So there you have it. The Acadia looks to have the tech to do battle in the competitive midzise 3 row segment. The AT4 is really interesting and should do battle with the likes of the Honda Passport. But its pricing is high and better money is spent elsewhere on vehicles that don’t share mechanical with other lower GM products.

That’s pretty much all this is. With all season tires and a Land Rover inspired terrain mode select.

Looks like it has a different AWD system (could just be marketing) and a terrain select system. i think if they put a locker in it, even an auto like the trucks get, it would be impressive and separate them from the competition.

My parents have a 2019 Acadia. A couple thoughts:
1) I cannot, under any circumstance, imagine taking one of these off road - I don’t care how loosely the term “off-road” is described
2) I cannot, under any circumstance, imagine paying nearly $50k for a GMC Acadia

However due to production line “delays” it will not ship until 2022

Right . At best its extremely soft off roading, if there is such a thing. Like making a U turn and having one side of the vehicle go off into gravel for instance.
The price is bonkers though. If I’m spending $50k at GMC is going to be on a Yukon or Sierra. You can get a good trim on a Sierra at that price. You can get a Sierra AT4, something you can actually take off road at that price. The Yukon will be base cloth seat spartan at 50 grand though.

It’s more like they increase the MSRP by $5,000, then sell the vehicles at what they’re actually worth. A $31,000 Equinox didn’t have a lot of safety tech, a panoramic sunroof, or, much, really. The power liftgate and the keyless buttons on four doors were nice, but otherwise.

Good lord that’s hideous. It’s like someone (poorly) photoshopped a Sierra grille onto an Acadia.

I think that’ s the unfortunate result of them trying to get that family resemblance .

I just saw one of these for the first time today. The headlights aren't what I was expecting for some reason. They give it a more wagon like look. I thought it was an outback at first as it approached me. I'll have to see more of them to see if it grows on me.

Yea its really low. Tall wagon like. Makes me worry about the AT4 and its off road aspirations .

I’ve been saying that GMC should be going after Jeep since no one really is but in typical GM fashion they seem to be splitting the difference between Jeep and Subaru and accomplishing neither.
Smart GM would have already put the Volt battery technology up to the GMC Terrain and Acadia and created the only non luxury plug in hybrid AWD crossovers. An AT4 hybrid trim would sell like crazy and with no direct competitors.

It would make sense that GMC should go after Jeep. The market has shifted back to thirsty off road vehicles, and since Hummer isnt around anymore they’d be smart to try and beat them at their own game. But its GM. I wouldn’ t hold my breath.

I p oked around one of these at the last auto show, since my significant other’s parents are looking at slightly downsizing from their 2013 Traverse. It had horrible fit and finish. Like, much worse than my dad’s 2005 Taurus wagon. It was either a Denali, or one trim down from that. Super uneven panel gaps, interior trim coming loose and completely coming off in some cases , and the cargo mat in the back was taco-ing very badly. I know the auto show cars have hard lives, but there were only a couple other vehicles I looked at that were holding up that poorly. (Canyon and Ranger).

That should tell you all you need to know about its long term quality. If making the rounds on the autoshow circuit is enough to make the interior like that, 3 years down the line under normal wear and tear wont bode well either.
